If  you would like a copy of the CD 'A Celebration of Music at Howsham Hall' by the Howsham Hall Choir 2007 please contact Mr M.P.Dales at mpd@martindales.me.uk . The cost is £5 per copy.

The school was established in 1958 as an independent boarding preparatory school for boys between the ages of 5 and 14. In recent years boarding girls and day children have also been accepted and they participate fully in the life of the school. A particular feature of Howsham is that not only is the house a school but also a home. Members of the Headmaster's family, all qualified and resident, help to administer the school and organise the boys very much as a family. The building is not divided into apartments and is, as much as possible, a normal home shared by the staff and children. This has the benefit of stability and continuity which results in an affectionate and trusting relationship between everyone.

The atmosphere is friendly and homely. The children are personalities to us all and are encouraged to develop along their own individual lines. The discipline is firm by today's standards, but it is kind and very fair. We pay great attention to speech and bearing and our children are noted for their good behaviour, politeness and neat appearance. They are taught to respect the opinions of others and we endeavour to stress the importance of tolerance and charity, beginning at home with day to day help and kindness to each other. We are proud to say that the happy, relaxed and friendly atmosphere is frequently remarked upon by visitors; so too is the considerate and confident manner of our pupils.

Prospective parents are most welcome to contact me for an appointment to visit the school.
